Councillor Paul Ekpenyong

Stowmarket Deputy Town Mayor 2018-2019

Councillor Paul Ekpenyong

I first came to Suffolk on an assignment basis back in 2005. After almost a year of commuting from Hertfordshire my wife Annette and I decided to move to Suffolk. We ended up settling in Stowmarket in 2006 where we’ve lived ever since. A move which has proved enduring because of all the lovely people we’ve met and got to know and living in what is one of the most desirable areas in the country.

I work as a Commercial Director for a successful high tech manufacturing business in Suffolk that exports its products right around the world.

I was elected to the Town Council in May 2015. At the same time I was also elected onto Mid Suffolk District Council.

It’s a great privilege to have been elected this year to the role of Deputy Mayor. I am looking forward to supporting our Mayor, Linda Baxter, to promote all that is good about our town of Stowmarket.

On the Town Council, I serve on the following committees

  • Operations & Strategy Committee
  • Business Improvement Committee (Vice-Chair)

On the District Council, I serve on the Licensing and Regulatory Committee.

Outside of the Councils, I am

  • A School Governor at Wood Ley Community Primary School
  • A STEM Ambassador
  • The Chair of the Stowmarket Environmental Forum
  • A Member of the Stowmarket Town Twinning Association
