Stowmarket Town Council is undertaking further work on its proposals to improve the Regal Theatre. The Town Council has approved the extension of the building to create three auditoria and a new frontage following a site options appraisal conducted by theatre and cinema architectural specialists Burrelll Foley Fischer LLP. Engagement with the local community will take place later in 2016 as the Town Council seeks to confirm the financial viability of the project before finalising a design. Mid Suffolk District Council has already offered its support with the feasibility studies.

Town Mayor, Councillor Barry Salmon said: “The Regal Theatre is highly successful with record admissions in 2015. We believe that it deserves further investment to ensure that it provides a first class entertainment venue with wider choice in the years ahead.”

The project is part of the Town Council’s place shaping agenda which is seeking to provide more and better amenities for Stowmarket in response to the town’s rapid expansion.
