Stowmarket has a rich history of being a market town. Edward III granted the town a market charter in July 1347 and the market continues to serve local people every Thursday and Saturday in the Market Place. This popular traditional market is supplemented with monthly Farmers’ Markets and occasional continental and specialist markets.
Come and discover our twice-weekly street market – the market features a wide range of stalls selling quality goods at competitive prices including meat, fish, fruit & vegetables, greetings cards, flowers, eggs – and even vacuum cleaners! The vibrant market takes place in the town centre throughout the day every Thursday and Saturday and is full of local hustle and bustle.
