I moved to Stowmarket during August 2010 with my wife Lois who is Stowmarket born and bred. I feel honoured to live in such a lovely part of the country – Suffolk has so much to offer!

I worked for the Department for Work and Pensions (and its predecessors) for almost 38 years until I took early retirement in June 2011. During my career I also undertook secondments with the Department of Health Audit team and the Audit Commission. Following my retirement I worked as a volunteer Assistant Manager for Cancer Research UK in the town. I joined the Board of the Cedars Park Community Interest Company in late 2012 and have managed Cedars Park Community Centre since its opening in May 2013. I became a member of the Mid Suffolk Citizens Advice Board of Trustees last year. I also have experience of working with teenagers. I was a Flying Officer in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve Training Branch and ran an Air Training Corps Squadron in Exeter, during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, before embarking on an Open University Degree.

I have served as a Town and District Councillor representing Stowmarket, Thorney and Stowmarket North Wards since being elected in May 2015. I consider it a great honour to have been elected as a local Councillor and I will always strive to serve, listen and support local people with the issues they discuss with me and to strive, wherever possible, to deliver the answers they are looking for.

I feel very humbled at being elected as the Deputy Mayor of Stowmarket and will strive to support the Town Mayor and the town to the very best of my ability.
