The Town Council manages six play areas in Stowmarket and is currently working on an improvement project which will will cover all of the sites over the next few years. The six play areas are:

The Recreation Ground, Glemsford Road, Chilton Fields, Hill Rise, Lindsey Way, Gainsborough Road and Melford Road.

The play area at the Recreation Ground was upgraded in 2010 as part of a bigger project to improve the site which also saw the installation of a ballpark, skatepark and CCTV camera. The play area cost £36,000 and was paid for through funding from the Corporate Regeneration Fund, Local Strategic Partnership and the Big Lottery.

The new play area at Glemsford Road, Combs Ford was opened by the Town Mayor, Councillor Mrs Vera Waspe on Friday, 4th April, 2014. The play area, which was funded by the Town Council and Section 106 monies from Mid Suffolk District Council was designed by the children of Combs Ford Primary School.

We are always looking for members of the community to get involved in play area improvement projects, particularly with consultation and fundraising. If you would like to get involved with improving any of the above play areas or if you have any other queries regarding them, please contact Stephanie Edmans, Community Liaison Officer, on 01449 612060 or email
